Lynn Luker — litigator, law firm owner and co-director of Tulane Law School’s Trial Advocacy program — is being honored with a 2014 Human Rights Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association. Luker, who holds three Tulane Law degrees (L ’81, LLM '85, LLM ’92), is nationally recognized as an National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms attorney and leader in making the legal profession more inclusive. She chairs the (NAMWOLF) Board of Directors and serves as a diversity trainer for the LSBA.

The bar association award recognizes Luker’s many contributions to ensuring “the full and equal opportunity of all persons for entry and advancement” in the profession. Presentation of the award is set for June 5 at the LSBA Annual Meeting General Assembly in San Destin, Fla.

“Lynn truly deserves this recognition,” Tulane Law School Dean David Meyer said. “No one works harder or more selflessly to make our profession stronger and more inclusive.”

Luker was instrumental in organizing Tulane’s Intersession boot camp, where she co-leads the civil litigation track. A former longtime partner at Adams & Reese, she has run Lynn Luker & Associates for 15 years. In a nominating letter, Kelly Legier, formerly the bar association’s director of Member Outreach and Diversity, said Luker has contributed in numerous ways, such as helping to raise money for a program aimed at high school students interested in law careers, handling diversity training across Louisiana and mentoring new attorneys.

“Lynn’s efforts have provided tangible, long-term support and professional development of minority, young and female attorneys that increases their chances of success within the profession,” said Legier, now an administrative law judge.
